Diablo 3 on Switch May Have Outed an Unannounced Amiibo
Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on Nintendo Switch reveals a currently unannounced amiibo early in a tutorial pop-up.
Early in the game, a "Use Amiibo" prompt shows a picture of a Treasure Goblin amiibo, which has not yet been revealed by Blizzard or Nintendo.
The Treasure Goblin amiibo bears a striking resemblance to an already released Cute But Deadly figurine. Since the Amiibo hasn't been revealed, we're unsure what rewards you'll get for using it in the game for now.

Combined NES and SNES Classic Sales Surpass 10 Million Units
The NES Classic Edition and Super NES Classic Edition retro consoles have sold over 10 million combined units, and approximately 50 million Amiibo figures have been sold.
According to a newly released Nintendo financial results briefing, "Combined global sales of the NES Classic Edition and the Super NES Classic Edition have now surpassed 10 million units... both continue to sell as must-have products, and the fact that they are so affordable suggests that they will be in even greater demand during the holiday season.”
The phrasing doesn’t give much of a hint on whether or not Nintendo plans on releasing an N64 Classic Edition this year, though it’s possible we could receive news about this in tomorrow morning’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct, or more likely in the following Nintendo Treehouse: Live Presentation. Rumors about a potential N64 Classic Edition ramped up when Nintendo filed a related trademark earlier this year.

Horror Movies by the Decade: A Century of Classics for Halloween
It’s the best time of year, and that means time to watch lots of horror movies. But while there are so many options these days – streaming services, Blu-rays, whatever TCM is airing – you might want to seek out some historic titles, and the “Doctor of the Dead” is here to help with some suggestions that cover an entire century of cinematic horror!
But look, I knew the job was dangerous when I took it. Trying to pick just one single horror movie to represent every decade from the 1910s to the present is an impossible task, so – in keeping with the spirit of the season – I’m just going to go with my gut. This list doesn’t invalidate your own picks, nor do I mean to say there aren’t plenty of equally valid options. But we only have so much time together, so let’s get started, and maybe a few of these might inspire you to go on your own Halloween season viewing binges that will last well into November and beyond.

The History of Broly
Broly has become a cult favorite villain for many Dragon Ball fans, and the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie (which hits theaters on Jan. 16) has a lot of people talking about the Legendary Super Saiyan.
Broly has only appeared in three Dragon Ball Z films; Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly - Second Coming, and Bio-Broly. While the character was designed by Dragon Ball series creator, Akira Toriyama, Toriyama did not write the story of any of those three films.
Because Broly has only appeared in films and manga side-stories until now, he is not considered part of the official Dragon Ball canon, although with Toriyama writing Dragon Ball Super: Broly (which will serve as an effective reboot of the character), that is about to change.

Sword Art Online Returns with a Bigger Arc and Bigger Threats in Alicization
Sword Art Online has been a long and exciting journey ever since it aired back in 2012. What started out as a tense mystery to find out why main hero Kazuto Kirito and many others could not log out of a game spiraled into a multi-chapter franchise as Kirito embarked with many other characters to investigate other forms of virtual MMORPGs. Now, six years later, A-1 Pictures brings us back to the world of swords and online play with the latest installment, Alicization. But is it worth the wait? And is it a reason to return to the series if you dropped it previously?
So far, Sword Art Online has been a mix of adaptation and original story. Check out the slideshow below for a brief overview of the story leading up to Alicization.

When a review laptop shows up on my desk, I immediately look over the spec sheet to get an idea of what I’m dealing with, and what I should look for when testing. The very last thing I look at is the price. For this Asus laptop I remained in an information blackout throughout testing, and once I was finished I combined the spec sheet with the benchmark results and my experience with the laptop, and assumed the Scar II would be priced somewhere between $2,200 and $2,500. To my surprise, it’s priced at just $1,999. That's a surprisingly low price for a powerful laptop such as this. Dubbed the Scar II (See it on Amazon) it's a revamp of the previous Scar, which is a laptop made for FPS gaming. Let's take a closer look.

PlayStation Plus Free Games for November 2018 Announced
Sony has revealed the free games PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive in November 2018, with Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and Yakuza Kiwami leading the charge as the free PlayStation 4 games for the month..
Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is a remastered version of the over-the-top first-person shooter from People Can Fly and Epic Games, with 4K support on PS4 Pro. All previous pieces of DLC are included in the Full Clip Edition, as well. In our Bulletstorm: Full Clip review, we appreciated the visual boost but found the additional content to be underwhelming.
Yakuza Kiwami, meanwhile, is a remake of the original Yakuza, built from the ground-up using a more recent engine. IGN's Yakuza Kiwami review saw it as a great way to experience the first story in the series, though it couldn't match the most recent mainline Yakuza games. Sega has given fans no shortage of choice as of late, with Yakuza 6, Yakuza 0, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 all coming to the West within the last few years.

BBC America Greenlights Series Based on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld
BBC America has announced that it is greenlighting The Watch, a new "punk rock thriller" series inspired by the City Watch subset of novels in English author Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books.
Co-producing The Watch with BBC America is Narrativia, which is run by Pratchett's daughter, Rhianna Pratchett. Simon Allen (The Musketeers) is the show's writer, while Hilary Salmon (Luther), Ben Donald, Rob Wilkins and Phil Collinson (Doctor Who) will executive produce.
The Watch will prominently feature Discworld characters like City Watch Captain Sam Vimes, Lady Sybil Ramkin, Carrot, Angua, Cheery, and Death. Allen's writing is said to be a reimagining of those Pratchett creations and others from the novels while still sticking close to their humor, heart, and ingenuity.

Delta Rune's website contains several warnings in English and Japanese about things like overriding security protocols and refraining from discussing "the program" for 24 hours in the interest of public safety.
The site says these warnings are the final ones players will receive before encouraging them to take things into their hands and allowing them to download Delta Rune for PC or Mac.

Transformers Makes for a Smashing Card Game
If you buy something through this post, IGN may get a share of the sale. For more, read our Terms of Use.
The new Transformers Trading Card Game from creator Wizards of the Coast allows you and an opponent to roll out opposing teams of robots to see who can smash and blast their way to victory first. Yes, Wizards also makes Magic: The Gathering, but that’s not what Transformers is trying to be. It just wants to simulate a big brawl between giant robots, and in that regard, it succeeds.
How It Works
To get things started, each player assembles a team of double-sided Transformers cards that start the game in “alt-mode” aka vehicle mode, and then once per turn one can be transformed into “bot mode” by flipping the card over. The act of transforming comes with an effect like drawing extra cards, healing your team, or altering attack and defense stats. Making sure to switch back and forth between modes at the right time becomes an important part of your strategy.

Microscopium
Microscopium is a minor constellation in the Southern Celestial Hemisphere, one of twelve created in the 18th century by French astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille and one of several depicting scientific instruments. Its stars are faint and hardly visible from most of the non-tropical Northern Hemisphere. The constellation's brightest star is Gamma Microscopii, of apparent magnitude 4.68, a yellow giant 2.5 times the Sun's mass. Now around 381 light-years distant, it may have been only 1.14 light-years from the Sun some 3.9 million years ago, possibly disturbing the outer Solar System. Two star systems—WASP-7 and HD 205739—have planets, while two others—the young red dwarf star AU Microscopii and the sunlike HD 202628—have debris disks. AU Microscopii and the binary red dwarf system AT Microscopii are probably a wide triple system and members of the Beta Pictoris moving group. BO Microscopii, nicknamed "Speedy Mic", is a star with an extremely fast rotation period of 9 hours 7 minutes.
Fortnite Downloaded on 'Nearly Half of All Nintendo Switch Systems Worldwide'
Nintendo has announced that Fortnite has been downloaded on "nearly half of all Nintendo Switch systems worldwide" since its launch in June of this year.
Referencing a previous Nintendo earnings report in which it was stated that the Nintendo Switch console sales have reached almost 23 million units, Fortnite would have been downloaded on 11.5 million of those that are currently in the wild.
This attach rate brings to mind The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which in its first 28 days sold 925,000 units for the Nintendo Switch, while the Nintendo Switch had sold 906,000.

TV's Highest Paid Actors in 2018 Revealed
The salaries for Hollywood's top earners in television has been revealed, with some surprising names atop the financial pedestal in 2018.
Per Variety, the 2018 earnings report shows that streaming providers, such as Amazon, Apple, and Netflix are paying their top-tier talent large sums of money as the competition between these companies intensifies. With so many digital entertainment providers out there, movie stars like Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) and Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) could entice potential subscribers to choose one service over another.
Variety divided its findings into three categories: drama, comedy, and unscripted programming. The dollar amount shown is what the actor receives per episode. Check out the results below.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Reporting HDR Issues
It appears that the High Dynamic Range (HDR) implementation in Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be true HDR.
According to Eurogamer, the video output of all versions of the game is derived from a Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) image, and therefore is not rendered in high dynamic range. Generally speaking, an SDR image doesn’t offer nearly as much contrast, color range or luminance as an HDR image, and Eurogamer claims that all of the limitations present in SDR are simply packaged in what the game is presenting as HDR.
Ultimately, Eurogamer says using HDR at recommended settings produces an image similar to what you get with HDR turned off, or it can even make the game look incredibly dim or overly bright if settings are tweaked in either direction.

Apple Says the New iPad Pro Is as Powerful as an Xbox One S
In Apple’s media event held this morning, the tech giant claimed that the new iPad Pro can deliver the same graphics performance as an Xbox One S.
During this event, which can be seen in its entirety here, Apple said the new iPad Pro can match this graphics performance in a product that’s 94% smaller without the need of an AC cord. It also claimed it’s faster than 92% of all portable PCs sold in the last month, and that its graphics performance is 1000x faster than the first generation iPad.
We won’t have to wait long to know if all of these statistics ring true when the new iPad Pro is released on November 7. Announced this morning, the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, and the 12.9-inch begins at $999, both with optional silver and space gray finishes and and multiple memory options. A USB-C port is replacing Apple’s proprietary Lightning port. The device is 5.9 mm thin, includes Face ID, an A12 X Bionic chip and uses the same LCD display that is on the newly released iPhone XR.

10 Best English Dubbed Anime Series
Whether you’re new to anime and seeking an accessible entry point, a longtime fan who could use a break from reading subtitles, or just looking for an excuse to revisit a classic show in a fresh way, a quality English dub has a lot to offer. As such, we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite anime dubs. Please note we opted to keep movies off this list in favor of specifically highlighting the best English dubbed shows.
Check out our picks for the 10 best English dubbed anime series in the slideshow below, or scroll down to see the list.
Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball is without question one of the most popular and recognizable anime franchises outside of Japan, and Funimation’s spectacular English dub of Dragon Ball Z is a huge reason why. Centered around Goku, who’s voiced by the wildly talented Sean Schemmel, DBZ chronicles the adventures of the aforementioned super powerful Saiyan and his friends as they fight to protect humanity from various alien threats. While yes, Dragon Ball Z is known for its crazy, over-the-top action, its beloved cast of eccentric and unforgettable characters is what has truly made Dragon Ball the phenomenon it is today. This is due in no small part to the involvement of one of the most prolific and talented voice actors ever, Christopher Sabat, who does an unbelievable job bringing multiple characters from the series, including Vegeta and Piccolo, to life. — Alex Osborn

Breach Blends All Your Favorite Game Genres with Mythology
Breach is a potent mixture of the last decade of game design. Like something engineered in an off-the-grid laboratory, its a multi-headed creation spliced together with DNA from hack-and-slash action games, hero shooters, MOBAs, and MMOs. It’s currently growing and coming into its own, boiling down that blend into a jump-in-and-play experience of quick 15-minute solo, cooperative, or competitive matches.
After getting hands-on with a healthy section of the technical alpha, what surprises me most about Breach is how well that insane-sounding concoction works. You pick a class – complete with its own basic attacks, skill shots, and abilities – and fight through a series of maps that are broken into six sectors. Each sector has an objective, so you and up to three other players fight to complete the objective in the allotted time while the enemy team of monsters, minions, mythological nightmares, and in some modes player-controlled demons tries to delay or stop you.

Battlefield V won't include microtransactions at launch, EA DICE has announced. Microtransactions will be added post-launch using a paid in-game currency called Battlefield Currency, but DICE promises they will only be used for cosmetic items.
"We want players to get hands-on experience with their Company
, the progression system, and earning Company Coin before introducing premium currency," DICE said. "Balanced rock-paper-scissors gameplay has always been the foundation of the Battlefield series, and our belief is that real-world money should not enable pay-to-win or pay-for-power."

How Thanos’ Snap Victims Could Return in Avengers 4
Avengers: Infinity War ends with Thanos snapping away half the universe and killing numerous heroes. But are they really dead? That seems to be the big question fans are debating as we wait the torturous months until the release of Avengers 4.
If you’re anything like me, then you’re confident there’s no way all those characters are permanently dead. I mean, Spider-Man and Black Panther have new movies coming out. It’s pretty much a given in the MCU fandom that the victims of the Snappening are going to come back in Avengers 4. The question is how? (Assuming the Avengers don’t just fix the Infinity Gauntlet and snap everyone back to life because that would not be satisfying.)

Switch Sales Pass 22 Million, Zelda: Breath of the Wild Hits 10 Million Copies Sold
The Nintendo Switch continues to be a sales success, with Nintendo's latest financial report placing the console at nearly 23 million units sold since its launch last year.
In a new earnings report, Nintendo revealed that over the last six months the Switch has managed to sell more than 5 million units, with a slight increase in sales compared to this time last year.
The new numbers now mean the Switch has almost doubled sales of the Wii U, and has overtaken GameCube's total figure.
During this time, Mario Tennis Aces managed to sell more than 2 million copies, while Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze sold more than 1.5 million.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Sells Through $725 Million In Its First Weekend
Red Dead Redemption 2 had the largest opening weekend for any entertainment product in history, managing to sell through $725 million in copies over just three days.
It's actually the second-highest grossing entertainment launch, although Rockstar won't be too unhappy with that, given that the record-holder is Grand Theft Auto V.
The discrepancy between biggest opening weekend and biggest overall launch comes down to the fact that the last GTA was released on a Tuesday.

Nintendo President Wants More DLC For Existing 'Big Titles'
For those wishing for more Super Mario Odyssey kingdoms, or Zelda story content, there might be a glimmer of hope, as Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has said he wants to see more DLC for existing major titles on Nintendo consoles.
At Nintendo's latest earnings meeting (as reported by Bloomberg's Yuji Nakamura), Furukawa said:
"We need continuous growth. We must keep releasing new software. That includes DLCs and other contents for big titles that are already out."
Many had wondered if the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey would see further updates. Despite announcing and releasing two paid content packs for Zelda, Nintendo has never formally said that it had finished working on the game. The same goes for Super Mario Odyssey, which has had a drip-feed of free content (including the Luigi's Balloon World update), but no paid expansions.

Gevninge helmet fragment
The Gevninge helmet fragment is the dexter eyepiece of a Danish helmet from the Viking Age or end of the Nordic Iron Age. It was found in 2000 during the excavation of a Viking farmstead at Gevninge. The fragment is moulded from bronze and gilded, and consists of a stylised eyebrow with eyelashes above an oval opening. There are three holes at the top and bottom of the fragment to affix the eyepiece to a helmet. One of two Scandinavian eyepieces discovered alone, it may have been deposited in an invocation of the one-eyed god Odin. Gevninge is three kilometres (1.9 mi) upriver from Lejre, a one-time centre of power believed to be the setting for Heorot, the fabled mead hall to which the epic hero Beowulf journeys in search of the monster Grendel; on his way, Beowulf passes through an armed outpost comparable to Gevninge. The eyepiece has been in the collection of the Lejre Museum since its discovery, and has been exhibited internationally as part of a traveling exhibition on Vikings.

Can CBS All Access Compete With Netflix?
On the heels of its four-year anniversary, CBS All Access is by no means the new kid on the block when it comes to the digital streaming market, quietly existing as a hub to watch all-things CBS. Now, with the recent addition of big-budget serialized original series like Star Trek: Discovery and the upcoming reimagining of The Twilight Zone, All Access is striving to become more than just a place to watch old episodes of Blue Bloods and The Big Bang Theory. With its new approach to creating content, we thought it would be fun to review the site and see how it compares to its competitors.
Over the past few years, CBS has bolstered its original programming lineup in order to compete with the likes of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and even the upcoming Disney Play service. While CBS may not be synonymous with creating ground-breaking television like some of its competitors, there are a few gems hiding among the "they solved it" procedurals that might make you consider giving this service a try. Let's take a closer look at what All Access has to offer, and if it's worth your hard-earned cash.

Crazy Rich Asians Sequel Plans to Shoot in Shanghai
The sequel to Crazy Rich Asians is planning to shoot in Shanghai, China.
As reported by Variety, the sequel will be based off China Rich Girlfriend, the second book in Kevin Kwan’s trilogy, and SK Global president John Penotti made the announcement in LA at the Chinese American Film Festival’s Co-Production Summit. Set two years after Crazy Rich Asians, China Rich Girlfriend gets its name from a line in the first film that goes “These people aren’t just everyday rich with a few hundred million. They are China rich.”
Much of the plot of the second book in the series takes place in China, though Penotti isn’t certain if the film will be made as an official China-U.S. production. While already released in most territories, Crazy Rich Asians won’t premiere in China until late November.

Disney Prioritizes Black Panther for Oscars, Puts Infinity War in One Category
Disney is famously pushing Black Panther this awards season, officially campaigning the film in 16 separate Oscar categories, while Avengers: Infinity War is only being campaigned in a single category.
According to the Disney Guild Awards 2018 webpage (via IndieWire), Disney is pushing for awards from Black Panther, Infinity War, Incredibles II, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Mary Poppins Returns and the animated short Bao. However, it appears Black Panther is being heavily prioritized over its fellow MCU film, as where Black Panther is being pushed for awards like Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and more, Infinity War is simply being touted as a Best Visual Effects contender (which Black Panther also has listed).

Monster Hunter: World Ships 10 Million Units, Breaks Capcom Record
Capcom's net sales were up 28.5% and operating income doubled to 110.1% from the first fiscal half of 2018, according to a Capcom earnings report released Monday.
The increase is a direct result of the success of Monster Hunter: World which released on Jan. 26. The publisher's net sales increased to 43.3 million yen for the six months ending on Sept. 30, and 10.5 million yen for their operating income – which is the highest it has ever been at the end of a second quarter in the company's history.
Monster Hunter: World has now surpassed 10 million copies shipped, which is a first for any single Capcom title in history. Profits climbed further after a Steam version was released on PC in August.

The basics design of headsets has been unchanged, and kind of unexciting, for quite awhile now. Sure, new features come along like wireless functionality, noise-cancelling, or even RGB lighting to spice things up, but those have all been around for some time. So when something actually new comes along, it’s a reason to be excited, especially when the "new" is a bit off the beaten path. That's the case with the HP OMEN Mindframe headset (See it on Amazon), which is the first headset to employ active cooling technology. Yes, you’re still reading about a headset and not a computer. So is it just a gimmick or is there a real benefit? I decided to find out.

Why the Return of '90s Flash Could Change the DC TV Multiverse
Arrowverse viewers are already comfortably familiar with the concept of the DC multiverse at this point. We've seen heroes from Earth-1 (Flash, Green Arrow) join forces with the heroes of Earth-38 (Supergirl, Martian Manhunter). We've also seen glimpses of other worlds like the Nazi-infested Earth-X and the retro-futuristic world of Earth-2.
But if the various teases for this year's big Arrowverse crossover are any indication, this multiverse is a lot bigger than anyone realized. With the reveal that John Wesley Shipp is back in his '90s Flash costume, the "Elseworlds" crossover has basically opened the door for any and every live-action DC series to join the fun. Here's why Shipp putting the costume back on is so significant.

Final Fantasy 8's Train Heist Is Its Most Underrated Moment
Final Fantasy VIII was a divisive entry in the beloved franchise when it released in 1999. For many, things like the junction and draw systems felt like too much of a departure from previous games, and an out-of-left-field plot twist near the end left a lot of fans scratching their heads.
These days, Final Fantasy VIII is remembered a little more fondly, if not necessarily as a masterpiece. One reason why is the world; it feels slightly more grounded than the high sci-fi and fantasy settings of previous games. There’s nothing wrong with FFVII’s Gaia or FFVI’s World of Balance, it’s just that they were occupied by fantasy archetypes and threatened by otherworldly beings that are hardly relatable to us as players.

Liz and the Blue Bird Review
Two years ago, director Naoko Yamada released the emotionally powerful and beautiful movie, A Silent Voice, based off the critically acclaimed manga by Yoshitoki Oima. With A Silent Voice, Yamada deftly combined both the one-shot that led to the series, as well as the series itself, while also imbuing her own artistry and style. The result was a two and a half hour movie that explored the difficulty of communication and empathy in the messy and fraught time of adolescence.
I talk about A Silent Voice, because in many ways, Liz and the Blue Bird is similar. It's also gorgeously animated by the talented studio, Kyoto Animation; it features many of Yamada's signature directorial traits, like a focus on body expression over facial expression to display how a character really feels; it even has the same composer, Kensuke Ushio, who uses minimalist music to add flavor to quiet and yet intimate scenes. On paper, A Silent Voice and Liz and the Blue Bird mirror. But visually, and in terms of experience, you will find them drastically different.

Incredibles Director Reveals the One Superpower They Almost Had
Every member of the Parr family has a distinctive ability tied specifically to their personality and role within the family, but that doesn't mean they didn't go through changes in pre-production.
In a recent conversation with IGN, Incredibles and Incredibles 2 director Brad Bird revealed that, at one point, everyone in the family except Bob had the ability to fly.
"Originally, in the early version of the Incredibles, all of
could fly except Bob," he said, explaining that the gimmick was "it was always a hassle for them to do everything, because Bob couldn't fly."
As you can watch in the above interview, Bird and Incredibles 2 producer John Walker went on to describe a drawing made by Pixar artist Teddy Newton, in which the family was flying while Bob was beneath them driving a station wagon.

The Nightmare Before Christmas: Christmas Movie or Halloween Movie?
It’s that time of year again. No, not Halloween, and no, not Christmas. It’s time for every movie lover to express their extreme and passionate opinion about whether Henry Selick’s beloved classic The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas movie… or a Halloween movie.
The Nightmare Before Christmas, produced by Tim Burton and based on one of his poems, tells the story of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween, who lives in Halloweentown and orchestrates the scariest night of the year, every single year. But he’s suffering from serious artistic burnout, so when he accidentally stumbles into Christmastown, he decides to try his hand at Christmas instead.
The film deftly combines Halloween and Christmas by adding freaky touches to beloved yuletide iconography, like a giant snake instead of a stocking, or a sleigh driven by skeletal reindeer. Even the stop-motion imagery of The Nightmare Before Christmas is a pastiche; before Burton’s film came along, the most famous stop-motion cartoons were beloved Rankin/Bass holiday specials like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.
