Stranger Things Season 3 Premiere Date and First Poster Revealed
Get ready for a strange new year: Netflix has announced the premiere date for Stranger Things Season 3, which will be released on July 4, 2019.
The streaming service also debuted the first poster and key art for the new season, which you can see below.
There's also a new teaser trailer for the upcoming season, featuring the ominous tidings "when blue and yellow meet in the west" cut between footage of the 1985's Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve (brought to you by Starcourt Mall). The teaser seems to show someone hacking into "Lynx Corp.," copyright 1984-1986, and running the program "SilverCatFeeds.exe." All of that culminates in the Dick Clark New Year's footage spinning upside down and flashing a brief glimpse of the Mind Flayer.

Die Zeit, die Tag und Jahre macht, BWV 134a
Die Zeit, die Tag und Jahre macht (Time, which day and year doth make), BWV 134a, is a secular cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach for a celebration of New Year's Day in 1719 at the court of Leopold, Prince of Anhalt-Köthen (hall in the palace pictured). The libretto by the author Christian Friedrich Hunold portrays a dialogue between two allegorical figures, Time (representing the past) and Divine Providence (the future). Bach set the words to eight movements consisting of alternating recitatives and arias, culminating in a choral finale. Most movements are duets for alto and tenor, supported by a Baroque instrumental ensemble of two oboes, strings and continuo. The character of the music is close to Baroque opera, including its French dances. In Leipzig in 1724, Bach used this secular work as the basis for a church cantata for the Third Day of Easter, omitting two movements and changing only the text.

Virgin Galactic Flight Manages to Reach the 'Edge of Space'
Earlier in December, Virgin Galactic's supersonic space plane the VSS Unity reached the upper limits of Earth’s atmosphere in a test flight, reaching a point that many consider the “edge of space."
As reported by CNN, the rocket-powered plane, flown by two veteran pilots, reached a maximum altitude of 51.4 miles, exceeding the 50-mile altitude that NASA considers the edge of space, but not quite the 62 miles that the widely-accepted Karman Line denotes as the edge of space. This point is vaguely defined, largely due to the nature of Earth’s atmosphere not ending at any particular hight, but rather becoming progressively thinner as altitude increases.

Why 2018 Was the Best Year For Video Games... Ever
Another year, another reflection on another batch of video games... but this year is different. Because 2018 was the best year for video games ever.
Don’t believe me? Take a close look at the chief contenders below and make up your own mind... but watch out, because 2018 was pretty nuts. Please note that this timeline has a strong American bias since it mostly reflects US release dates... awesome developments in Japan, Europe, and elsewhere that didn’t have an immediate impact in the US aren’t covered here. That means a lot of important contributions to Japanese and UK gaming history have to wait until they have an impact on the American market. We’re looking at you, Rare.
Below is a list of the best years in gaming history, all leading up to the spectacular 2018.

Purchasing an Origin PC, be it a desktop or laptop, is a "boutique" experience. Throughout the entire process, you are in complete control over the components, colors, the finish, and you even have the option to have your computer shipped in a big wooden crate. A crate that requires a power tool to crack open (see below). I'm reviewing the company's EVO17-S (See it at OriginPC.com), which falls into the its "thin and light" product lineup. It's similar to the EVO15-S I tested earlier this year, but bigger and more powerful.

Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events: Season 3 Review
Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events needed to see its story through to the end. The third season based on the 13-book series is its best yet, with a fantastic sense of pacing, every opportunity taken to indulge in a bit of fun wordplay, and its continued, incredible ability to set up moments of joy only for the realities of the Baudelaires’ world to come crashing down around them.
Adapting books 10-13 — The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End — Season 3 picks up from Season 2’s literal cliffhanger (Violet and Klaus hurtling off the side of a cliff in a runaway cart) and almost never lets up its pace. Even though emotional and narrative payoff obviously doesn’t come full circle until the last few episodes, the four episodes adapting Slope and Grotto do a surprising job of being both satisfying in their own right and in how they integrate the overarching story.

Marvel’s Oscar Hopes May Not Be With Black Panther Anymore
Marvel Studios' Black Panther is nominated for three Golden Globes including Best Motion Picture – Drama. This nomination certainly has Marvel fans a little excited, as until that point, it seemed as if much of Black Panther's odds of making it to the Academy Awards were slimming. Black Panther is still perhaps a long shot (it's competing with critical darlings like A Star is Born, BlacKkKlansman, and If Beale Street Could Talk), but its nomination at the Golden Globes is a pretty big deal.

Why Is the Internet Obsessed With Bird Box?
While Bird Box is hardly Netflix's first big tentpole exclusive horror movie, it more than others seems to have struck a major chord with viewers. And one need only spend a few minutes browsing Twitter at the moment to see that people have gone a little bit crazy for Bird Box.
So what is it about this horror flick that's making people so obsessed? Why, in a year full of great horror films like Hereditary and A Quiet Place, is Bird Box the toast of social media? Here's why we think the Internet is freaking out over Bird Box.

Netflix is calling its latest entry in Charlie Brooker's imaginative Black Mirror anthology series an "interactive movie." And while the interactive elements of "Bandersnatch" are clearly there - featuring a unique decision-making system that alters how the story unfolds - it's difficult to not notice the similarities the film shares with video games.

Not long ago, a laptop with a touchscreen was considered pretty out of place. Sure, it was nice to have the option to tap or scroll with your finger, but there was no real advantage to having a touchscreen since it was often times easier to just use the touchpad. As tablets continued to gain in popularity, and Microsoft admitted it messed up with Windows 8 by going whole hog with touch, the idea of convertible 2-in-1 laptops was born.

Once you try a pair of wireless headphones, you'll probably never want to go back to wired again. The same can be said for using a wireless mouse too, actually. There's not a huge penalty to cutting the cord, and the gains are pretty massive as you get the exact same features as a wired headset without having to worry about that pesky cable getting caught on something on your desk, or (heaven forbid) having it touch either of your hands while gaming. This is simply not acceptable, so get rid of the cable for good.

Anyone trying to fit multiple gaming consoles or other electronics under their TV without making a huge mess knows how important it is to get a high-quality gaming TV stand. A simple two-tier TV stand is fine if you're just rocking a single cable box, but things can get crowded fast. Not only does it look bad when two or more electronic devices are stacked on top of each other, it can be dangerous since the devices tend to throw heat on each other – does the Red Ring of Death ring a bell? So don't scoff - whether you're in a dorm or other small space, or looking for something sturdy to rest your massive 65 inch TV, it's important to look around for the best TV stand. You and your electronics deserve better, so we've put together a list of some of the best TV stands and entertainment centers out there that can help alleviate clutter, streamline your living space, and help your gaming HQ look more a little more professional.

John Doubleday (restorer)
John Doubleday (about 1798 – 1856) was a British craftsperson, restorer, and dealer in antiquities. He was employed by the British Museum for the last 20 years of his life as a specialist restorer, perhaps the first person in that role. In 1845 the Portland Vase, a Roman cameo glass piece, was smashed into hundreds of pieces, and Doubleday was selected for the restoration. Guided by a watercolour of the fragments by Thomas H. Shepherd, he glued the vase whole again within a few months, omitting only 37 small splinters. This restoration would remain for more than 100 years, until the adhesive grew increasingly discoloured. In other work for the museum, he cleaned bronzes from Nimrud and at least twice testified in criminal trials. By the time of his death he had amassed one of the largest collections of casts of seals in the world. In 2006 William Andrew Oddy of the British Museum ranked him "in the forefront of the craftsmen-restorers of his time".

Atlus Teases Persona 5 R, Other New Projects
Atlus has officially teased Persona 5 R, which many believe to be an enhanced release of Persona 5.
Revealed through a brief video, the words “Persona 5 R” are never shown, though an official website by the name P5R.jp has been attached to the video, suggesting the upcoming title will include this new letter. The teaser showcases Tokyo’s Shibuya district, a major location in P5, with screens displaying the P5 icon, followed by the message “New Projects” and “2019.3."
The description of the video claims the next information on this title will be coming in March 2019. It’s unclear if the “New Projects” referenced in the trailer solely includes P5R or also involves unannounced spinoff games, like a possible Persona 5 fighting game similar to Persona 4 Arena.

16 Biggest Box Office Flops of 2018
With 2018 winding down, it’s time to start reflecting on the year that was, including the winners… and today’s focus, the losers at the box office. First, though, let’s set a few ground rules.
First off, the movies on this list have all opened in wide release, at least over 1,000 theaters nationwide, so while Gotti ($4.3 million worldwide, $10 million budget) would certainly be considered a bomb, it also only opened in 503 theaters. While it’s numbers are dismal, a movie like Gotti doesn’t have a wide enough release to have the potential to make blockbuster numbers anyway, so it doesn’t really make much sense to include a movie like Gotti here, as far as I’m concerned.
I’m also not including movies that technically ‘made money,’ even though I’m fully aware that movie math isn’t quite the same as traditional math. In the eyes of many, Solo: A Star Wars Story ($213.8 million domestic, $392.9 million worldwide, rumored $300 million budget) could be considered a “bomb,” especially since it’s the lowest-grossing movie in Star Wars history…even though it’s still the ninth highest-grossing movie domestically this year. The “budget” doesn’t include publicity and advertising, which Variety reported last year can cost anywhere between $20 million and $150 million for each movie, but isn’t a commonly reported figure. The production budget also doesn’t include first-dollar gross points paid out to actors, directors, producers and writers and a myriad of other costs, and the most common metric is that a movie needs to at least double its production budget to truly break even.

Netflix's New True Crime Series Will Haunt You
Note: this is a spoiler-free review of The Innocent Man, which debuts on Netflix on Friday, December 14.
True crime fanatics who happen to have a Netflix subscription are never starved for options. Making a Murderer Season 1 really opened the floodgates and established Netflix as a force to be reckoned with in the true crime area. But for those hoping to scratch that very specific Making a Murderer itch, even Season 2 was found wanting in some respects. There just haven't been enough new developments with that particular case to warrant a whole new season. With that in mind, The Innocent Man may be the more satisfying follow-up to Making a Murderer. Just don't expect a series that breaks any new ground with the genre.

Batman's Penis and Beyond: The Biggest WTF Moments of 2018 in Comics, Movies and TV
2018 was a pretty strange year for pop culture. Batman couldn't keep his clothes on. Sonic the Hedgehog insisted on showing off his gross-looking legs. Everyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe either got wiped out of existence or had their Netflix series canceled.
As the year winds down, here's a look back at the five strange developments in movies, TV and comics that had us all saying, "WTF?".
Batman Shows His Penis
DC Comics debuted a new imprint this year called DC Black Label, one geared toward older readers hungry for dark, standalone stories in the vein of The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. That imprint kicked off with the release of Batman: Damned in October, and it immediately became clear just how un-kid-friendly Black Label truly is.

Netflix's Bird Box Review
The following is a mostly spoiler-free review of Bird Box, which is now streaming on Netflix.
In a slightly better effort and presentation than most Netflix Original movies, Bird Box stars Sandra Bullock as one of the few survivors of a global "event" that - *sigh* - involves invisible demons instantly causing all who see them to commit suicide. Look, it's all better than the description makes it sound. Though, this gimmick also feels goofy at times, and needlessly convolutes a story that, for all intents and purposes, could be about anything world-ending (zombies, clickers, what have you).
The end result of these supernatural creatures (if you're looking for the film's "hook") is that the characters can't go outside with their eyes open, creating a scenario where Bullock's Malorie has to escort two 5-year-old kids (one is hers and the other an orphan) through the woods blindfolded, surrounded by shrieking chaos. Their lack of visuals makes for a cool visual, and an unsettling survival scenario, but it the movie feels reverse engineered to create this very specific, heightened situation. As if the author - in this case Josh Malerman, who wrote the 2014 book the movie's based on - worked backwards from a cool idea and created "monsters" that could accommodate such an ordeal.

First Tennessee Park
First Tennessee Park is a baseball park in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States. It opened in 2015 as the home of the Triple-A Nashville Sounds of the Pacific Coast League. It was built on the site of the former Sulphur Dell, a minor league ballpark in use from 1870 to 1963. The design of the park incorporates imagery inspired by country music, Sulphur Dell, and the city's former baseball players and teams. Its most distinctive feature is its guitar-shaped scoreboard. During construction of the park, artifacts dating to around 1150 were uncovered; these are now on permanent display in the Tennessee State Museum's Mississippian Period exhibit. Archaeologists believe them to be the remnants of a workshop in a Native American settlement where mineral water from underground springs was boiled to collect salt. The park is on a flood plain of the Cumberland River that flooded in 2010.
