The Rook Season 1 Premiere Review
This is a mostly spoiler-free review of Starz's The Rook Season 1, episode 1, which airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. PT/ET.
Starz is no stranger to blending sci-fi and spycraft, as evidenced by the premium cable network's critically-acclaimed (and cancelled-too-soon) Counterpart, which deftly blended high-concept thrills with a moody mystery. The Rook feels thematically similar, if a little more lively - beginning with the Memento-esque premise of a woman who wakes up at London's Millennium Bridge with no memory of who she is or how she got there, surrounded by dead bodies wearing latex gloves.

Castlevania Showrunner Wants to Make Live-Action My Hero Academia
Castlevania showrunner Adi Shankar has become well known for his dark retellings of the nerdy franchises that we hold near and dear to our hearts, but which fandom does he want to tackle next?
Last week, Shankar added a gritty, violent Pokemon parody, The End of Pokemon, to his Bootleg Cinematic Universe. After the trailer debuted exclusively on IGN, we caught up with Shankar to ask if there are any anime series he dreams of adapting for live-action. He told IGN’s Jacki Jing that the anime at the top of his wishlist is My Hero Academia.
“It’s that tone that Pixar really nails - adult themes, not watered down,” Shankar said of how he would approach adapting a series that is much lighter than the likes of Castlevania or his upcoming Devil May Cry series for Netflix.

Netflix To Make Sandman TV Series from Neil Gaiman, David Goyer
Netflix and Warner Bros. have signed what The Hollywood Reporter's sources describe as a “massive” financial deal to adapt Neil Gaiman’s famous Sandman comic series into a live action show on the popular streaming platform. According to THR’s sources, it’s the most expensive TV series that DC Entertainment has ever taken on.
Writing the Sandman TV series will be Allan Heinberg, who previously worked as a writer on 2017’s Wonder Woman, Grey’s Anatomy, and co-produced Scandal, among others. Gaiman himself will executive producer alongside David Goyer (The Dark Knight, Man of Steel), both of whom were attached to New Line Cinema’s previous attempts at breaking ground on a film deal.

Stranger Things: Season 3 Spoiler Free Premiere Review
This is a spoiler-free review for the Stranger Things Season 3 premiere, titled "Suzie, Do You Copy?" All 8 episodes will be available to binge on Netflix on Thursday, July 4, 2019. If you need a refresher, be sure to check out our Stranger Things Season 2 Ending Explained.
It's been an agonizing year and a half since we were last in the imaginative world of Stranger Things, and a lot has changed for both the characters and the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. For one thing, the kids are older, and with that particular change comes a level of maturity, which gives the Season 3 premiere - titled "Suzie, Do You Copy?" - a darker tone and a more complex narrative that's refreshing to watch. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer wisely focus their creative attention on how the passage of time has affected our favorite characters, relegating the Upside Down stuff to the fringes... For now.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Review
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite may not be the wizarding world game of my dreams (hopefully that leaked Harry Potter RPG trailer is more than a concept) but I’m pleasantly surprised with how much I’m enjoying Niantic’s latest augmented reality “walking RPG.” This followup to the phenomenally successful Pokemon GO does a lot of heavy lifting to justify its storyline that makes the actual idea behind it a little wonky, but the many, many layers of exploration and collection it encourages have kept me engaged on a daily basis… so far.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is, in a nutshell, Pokemon GO but with wizard tchotchkes instead of collectable pocket monsters. The longer version of the description reads a bit more like a J.K. Rowling lore tweet: in the quiet, post-Deathly Hallows epilogue lives of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, a great calamity has hit the wizarding world and threatens to tear down the wall between muggles and magic. You and wizards around the world are enlisted to help uphold the Statute of Secrecy and eventually solve this Calamity.

Does Toy Story 4 Have a Post Credits Scene?
If you're wondering whether Toy Story 4 has a post-credits scene at the end, then you're in the right place.
But if you somehow wound up here by mistake, be warned: Spoilers follow regarding whether or not the new Toy Story movie has a post-credits scene...
Right, still here? O.K., the answer is that yes, Toy Story 4 does have post-credits material.
Without giving away too much here, suffice to say there are several mid-credits scenes that play and are lots of fun. And then, after the credits have run completely, there is one last little bit that's also quite cute.

Toy Story 4 Ending Explained
This ending explained contains full spoilers for Toy Story 4.
Toy Story 3 seemed like a perfect ending for Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang. Andy went off to college, but he left his beloved toys in the gentle hands of pre-schooler Bonnie, implying that his toys had many years of playtime left ahead of them.
Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley admitted that when it came to approaching a fourth installment, "We had the same questions everybody else has right now: 'I thought you guys were done.' ... We love the end of Toy Story 3, and feel like that’s the completion of Woody and Andy’s story. But there was more Woody story to tell."

Does Dark Phoenix Have a Post-Credits Scene?
Dark Phoenix hits theaters this weekend, which means you may be wondering, is there anything after the credits? While the X-Men movies have only intermittently included post credits scenes -- most notably Days of Future Past and Apocalypse -- they haven't been like the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in terms of end credit scene surprises.
And with the X-Men now a part of the Disney empire, the current franchise comes to an end with Dark Phoenix (and, yes, 2020's The New Mutants is the final X-related movie to be released by 20th Century Fox.)
All of which is to answer the question, should you stick around until the very end of the closing credits for any surprises or hints about what the future might hold for the X-Men?

Evangelion Neon Genesis Ending Explained
So, you finished watching Neon Genesis Evangelion on Netflix and you’re a little confused. That’s completely normal and entirely expected given, well, the entire ending. But don’t worry, we’re here to explain everything to you.
Neon Genesis Evangelion essentially has two endings, both of which are now available on Netflix: the end of the TV series (specifically episodes 25 and 26), which originally aired in early 1996; and the film The End of Evangelion, which was released in 1997. (In between there was a movie called Death and Rebirth, which is on Netflix in a re-edited form as Death (True)², but you don’t need to worry about that: it’s basically just a recap of the TV series with a few minutes of new footage, which originally bridged the gap between the end of the TV series and the release of the movie.) If you’ve watched one or both of them, you’ve likely noticed the jarring pivot towards the story’s conclusion, but might not be familiar with the troubled production history of the acclaimed anime. Here’s everything you need to know about the infamously complicated ending of Evangelion.

Norfolk, Virginia, Bicentennial half dollar
The Norfolk, Virginia, Bicentennial half dollar is a half dollar commemorative coin struck by the United States Mint in 1937, though it bears the date 1936. Designed by William Marks Simpson and Marjory Emory Simpson, the coin commemorates the 200th anniversary of Norfolk being designated as a royal borough, and the 100th anniversary of it becoming a city. Virginia Senator Carter Glass sponsored a bill for a Norfolk half dollar, but it was amended in committee to provide for commemorative medals instead. Unaware of the change, Glass and other advocates shepherded it through Congress. A bill calling for coins was passed in 1937, but by then, the anniversaries had passed, and sales were poorer than hoped; almost a third of the coins could not be sold. The Norfolk half dollar is the only U.S. coin to depict the British crown, shown on the reverse on the city's ceremonial mace.

An Exciting New Power Rangers Era Begins
The recent "Shattered Grid" crossover is easily BOOM! Studios' most ambitious Power Rangers project to date, one that united the entire Power Rangers multiverse before leaving it broken and possibly irreparably damaged. Now the core Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series is launching into a new story arc entitled "Necessary Evil." It's being billed as the successor of sorts to "Shattered Grid," which probably does the creative team a disservice. The emphasis with issue #40 isn't so much about launching into the next big Power Rangers event, but introducing a new status quo and jumping-on point that makes the most of classic MMPR continuity.
The series employs a time jump with this issue, leaping ahead to the point in the series where Lord Zedd is the main villain, Tommy leads the team as the White Ranger and Jason, Trini and Zack have vanished on their never-ending UN peace summit. This new status quo makes for an easy entry point into the series for new and lapsed readers. It helps that the conclusion of Power Rangers: Shattered Grid #1 is reprinted here as a sort of prologue/recap sequence. It fits surprisingly well in that context, serving as a poignant sort of farewell to the classic MMPR era while reminding us that the full ramifications of Drakkon's assault on the multiverse have yet to be deduced.

Amazing Spider-Man Sets the Stage for Greatness
While much of the focus of Nick Spencer's first year on Amazing Spider-Man has involved the buildup to an ultimate culmination of "Hunted," the series has also been teasing a brand new, very mysterious addition to Spidey's rogues gallery. As Spencer gears up for Year 2, that villain is finally stepping out of the shadows and taking a more active role in tormenting Peter Parker. That, plus a heavy focus on Mysterio, is enough reason to check out issue #24.
Spencer mainly divides this standalone story on two fronts, exploring how the fallout of "Hunted" continues to affect Peter and using Mysterio as a means of setting the stage for this mystery villain's big debut. The former is especially welcome as it helps bring the Peter/MJ relationship back to the forefront of the book. As great as it is having this romance back in action a decade after Brand New Day, it hasn't necessarily received the attention it deserves. But now that the initial "honeymoon" phase has worn off, Peter finds himself at a crossroads. Can he allow himself to be with someone he loves and risk putting them in mortal danger, especially with the terrifying visions he's been experiencing?

Coprinellus micaceus
Coprinellus micaceus is a common species of fungus in the family Psathyrellaceae with a cosmopolitan distribution. The species typically grows in dense clusters on or near rotting hardwood tree stumps or underground tree roots. Depending on their stage of development, the tawny-brown mushroom caps may range in shape from oval to bell-shaped to convex, and reach diameters up to 3 cm (1.2 in). In young specimens, the cap surface is coated with a fine layer of reflective mica-like cells, inspiring the species name as well as the common names "mica cap", "shiny cap", and "glistening inky cap". A few hours after collection, the gills will start to dissolve into a black, inky, spore-laden liquid. The fruit bodies are edible before the gills blacken and dissolve, and cooking will stop the process. Chemical analysis of the fruit bodies has revealed the presence of antibacterial and enzyme-inhibiting compounds.

Viz Apologizes for Sailor Moon Mistake About Neptune and Uranus
Viz Media has formally apologized for what it says was a translation error in the limited edition Season 5, Set 1 release of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, the long-awaited dub of the series’ final season. According to Viz Media, the mistranslation implied the characters Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus, who are canonically gay and in a relationship with one another, were not.
Rather than a mistranslation in one of the show’s episodes, the error was actually in the romaji (or romanized translation of Japanese) lyrics in a booklet packaged with the limited edition home video release of Sailor Moon Season 5, Set 1 on Blu-ray and DVD.

1907 Tiflis bank robbery
A bank robbery was committed by Bolsheviks on 26 June 1907 in the city of Tiflis, Russian Empire, what is now Georgia's capital, Tbilisi. Planned by Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Maxim Litvinov, Leonid Krasin, and Alexander Bogdanov, it was carried out by revolutionaries led by Stalin's early associate Kamo. The attack killed forty people and injured fifty others; the robbers escaped with 341,000 rubles. The Bolsheviks were unable to use most of the large banknotes they had stolen because the serial numbers were known to the police. Lenin thought of a plan to have the notes cashed simultaneously throughout Europe, but this strategy failed. Kamo was imprisoned for this and other crimes, but was released after the Russian Revolution; no other major conspirator was ever tried. After his death, Kamo was buried under a monument constructed near the robbery site, but the grave and monument have since been removed.
