The Mummy Returns
The Mummy is a 1999 American action horror film written and directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Brendan Fraser (pictured), Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Kevin J. O'Connor, and Arnold Vosloo. In this film, a loose remake of a film of the same name from 1932, adventurers accidentally awaken Imhotep, a high priest from Pharaoh Seti I's reign who has been cursed for eternity. Filming began in Marrakesh, Morocco, in May 1998; the crew had to endure dehydration, sandstorms, and snakes while filming in the Sahara. The visual effects were provided by Industrial Light & Magic, who blended film and computer-generated imagery to create the mummy. The film opened on May 7, 1999, and went on to gross $416 million worldwide. The box-office success led to two sequels, The Mummy Returns (2001) and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), as well as an animated series, and a prequel, The Scorpion King. The film also inspired a roller coaster, Revenge of the Mummy, in three Universal Studios Theme Parks.

James Gunn Reveals the Most-Requested Song for Guardians of the Galaxy 3
From Hooked on a Feeling to Come to Get Your Love to a dance off featuring O-o-h Child, the Guardians of the Galaxy films have featured some of the greatest musical hits from our history. However, there is one song that director James Gunn won't ever use, even though it just so happens to be the most-requested by fans.
This revelation was prompted by @Jairus stating that Gunn "better use a song by The Style Council in the next GOTG movie." Gunn quote Tweeted that tweet, saying "If I used every song I "better" use or that someone will "riot" if I don't, my soundtracks would be 30,000 hours long."

Leaked Recordings Allegedly Reveal Dragon Ball Z Cast Making Homophobic Jokes
Apparent leaked voiceover recordings from the anime production company Funimation allegedly reveal voice actors from Dragon Ball Z (including what appears to be Goku's english voice actor Sean Schemmel) making homophobic, incestuous, and overall offensive jokes while recording.
Multiple audio clips were slowly revealed by Nick Rekieta over the course of his Rekieta Law livestream, which he claims violates Funimation's own workplace guidelines. Rekieta also notes that he obtained the clips "absolutely, 100% legally" and that he is distributing them in a journalistic capacity. Funimation notably distributes (and facilitates English dub work for) Dragon Ball Z, which is created by Toei Animation.

Taxonomy of lemurs
The history of the taxonomy of lemurs dates back to 1758 when Carl Linnaeus first classified them. Having undergone independent evolution on Madagascar, lemurs have displaced many other types of mammals, and approximately 70 to 100 species and subspecies are recognized today. They include the smallest primates in the world, and once included some of the largest. Currently living lemur species are divided into five families and 15 genera. Since the arrival of humans around 2000 years ago, lemurs have become restricted to 10% of the island, and many face extinction. The recent steep increase in species numbers is due to improved genetic analysis, a push to encourage the protection of isolated lemur populations, and the elevation of existing subspecies to full species status. Concerns over lemur conservation have also affected their taxonomy, since distinct species receive increased conservation attention.

Tropical Storm Faxai (2007)
Tropical Storm Faxai was a short-lived tropical storm that had minor effects on land. The twentieth named storm of the 2007 Pacific typhoon season, Faxai originated from a tropical depression over the open waters of the western Pacific Ocean in late October. The storm quickly strengthened, becoming a severe tropical storm on October 26 as it rapidly traveled towards the northeast. It became extratropical the following day as it brushed Japan. Although Faxai never made landfall, outer bands associated with the storm produced torrential rains, amounting to 458 mm (18.0 in) on Miyake-jima. A Japan Airlines flight to Narita Airport encountered severe turbulence during the afternoon of October 27; one person sustained serious injuries, five others received minor injuries, and the plane was damaged. One person was killed near Tokyo as the storm passed by, and three others were injured. The storm's remnants dissipated on October 28.

Astral Chain Might Be the Best-Looking Game on Switch
I'm increasingly convinced that Astral Chain is the most beautiful game on Switch. Breath of the Wild is a gorgeous pastel-pastoral, Super Mario Odyssey still has that sheer cartoon charm, and the likes of Thumper and Ape Out drip with expressive style. But only PlatinumGames' latest has caused me to run out of room on my SD card through sheer weight of screenshots.
Its cyberpunk island-city setting, The Ark, is a blanketing haze of neon, either buzzing down from buildings, or reflected back up at you from rainfall-slick streets. Its characters feel like they’ve sprung into 3D from an anime, a grab-bag of pink hair, eyepatches and over-the-top animations. Even its frenetic, two-tone combat is an exercise in visual flair, the titular chain whipping across the battlefield, as both player and Legion (your semi-AI controlled living weapon) dance their way through combat.

Batman/Superman #1 Captures the Best of Both Worlds
When DC launched Superman/Batman back in 2003, the series' appeal couldn't be simpler. DC's biggest creators working with the company's two most iconic heroes, all on a series built around the widescreen action approach that was so popular at the time. For various reasons, that appeal never fully translated over to 2013's Batman/Superman. But with the launch of a new volume of Batman/Superman, DC does a far better job of recapturing that old magic. Superstar creators plus iconic heroes plus a dastardly villain equals a strong debut issue.
Batman/Superman builds directly on the foundation of Dark Nights: Metal and The Batman Who Laughs, with the series pitting the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel against a nemesis who has all the most formidable traits of Batman and the Joker. And lest readers accuse the Batman Who Laughs of being well below Superman's pay grade, this series also introduces "The Infected," a group of DC heroes who have been secretly corrupted by this demented villain.

Marvel Comics #1000 Is for Hardcore Fans Only
Marvel Comics is celebrating its 80th anniversary in a number of ways in 2019, but the release of Marvel Comics #1000 easily ranks among the most ambitious. Each page of this 80-page special issue features a different creative team telling a story inspired by a particular year in Marvel's history.
The launchpad for each story ranges from the debut of a major character to the appearance of a seminal storyline to the release of a landmark movie like Iron Man or Howard the Duck. The result is every bit as messy and disjointed as you'd expect from such an unusual undertaking, but still well worth reading for Marvel devotees.
Telling a complete, coherent story in a single page is an art form unto itself, and it goes without saying that some teams are more successful than others. The fundamental problem with Marvel Comics #1000 is that there isn't really a cohesive theme or focus over the course of 80 pages, 80 teams, and 80 stories. Some stories follow a set theme, with heroes like Hulk, Thing, and Daredevil responding to a faceless interviewer asking about what motivates them. Others are basically bland origin story re-tellings. A great many others simply seek to tell a fun, quick story in the limited space available.

All Money Is Legal
All Money Is Legal is the debut studio album by American rapper Amil (pictured). A hip hop album, it was released on August 29, 2000, through Roc-A-Fella, Columbia, and Sony Music. Jay-Z, Damon Dash, and Amil served as executive producers. Future spouses Jay-Z and Beyoncé met for the first time during the album's recording sessions. Although Jay-Z had written Amil's verses for their past collaborations, she wrote her own lyrics for all of the album's tracks. The songs focus on wealth and, to a lesser degree, Amil's personal life. Reviews were mixed; critics were divided over the album's production and Amil's verses. It peaked at number 45 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Two singles – "I Got That" with vocals from Beyoncé and "4 da Fam" with verses from Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, and Jay-Z – were released from the album and promoted with accompanying music videos. "I Got That" reached number one on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Billboard chart, and "4 da Fam" charted on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

Vesna Vulović
Vesna Vulović (1950–2016) was a Serbian flight attendant who holds the Guinness world record for surviving the highest fall without a parachute: 10,160 metres (33,330 ft). She was the sole survivor after a briefcase bomb tore through the baggage compartment of JAT Flight 367 on 26 January 1972, causing it to crash over Czechoslovakia. She spent days in a coma with a fractured skull and many broken bones, and was temporarily paralyzed from the waist down. Vulović eventually relearned how to walk, but continued to limp for the rest of her life. She was widely regarded as a national hero in Yugoslavia. Guinness recognized her world record in 1985. She was fired from JAT in the early 1990s for taking part in anti-government protests, but continued her work as a pro-democracy activist for decades. The final years of her life were spent in seclusion and poverty, and she struggled with survivor's guilt until her death.

Decay of Logos Review
There’s an old Wile E. Coyote cartoon where he gets in a racecar to chase after the Road Runner, and as he’s speeding along the car begins to fall apart piece by piece until he’s left holding nothing but a busted steering wheel. That’s what it feels like to play Decay of Logos, an open-world action-adventure RPG that strongly invokes The Legend of Zelda but is missing the crucial pieces that make the genre so beloved.
Drawing inspiration from Dark Souls as well, Decay of Logos places emphasis on challenge and exploration, though it rarely sticks the landing. Across its roughly 10-hour campaign you’ll travel through haunted battlefields, crumbling castles, and mysterious woods – all while fighting the same handful of generic enemy types over and over again in one of the most infuriatingly repetitive and buggy games I’ve seen in a long time. Whether it’s the choppy framerate, equipment that disappears from your inventory, the world not loading in time for you to step foot on it, or the whole thing crashing entirely, you’re only ever a short time away from something that will hinder or completely shatter your enjoyment of a game that otherwise has a lot of potential.

William Hayden English
William Hayden English (August 27, 1822 – February 7, 1896) was a US Representative from Indiana and the Democratic nominee for vice president in 1880. English entered politics at a young age, becoming part of the conservative wing of the state Democratic Party. He was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1851 and served as its speaker at the age of 29. Elected to Congress in 1852, he served four terms, leaving office in 1861. English was a War Democrat, supporting the Union in the Civil War. He was successful in business, and became one of the wealthiest people in Indiana. He returned to political life as Winfield Scott Hancock's running mate in 1880, but they were narrowly defeated by their Republican opponents, James A. Garfield and Chester A. Arthur. Afterwards, English continued in business and wrote two books.

The Simpsons Creator Confirms Apu Won't Be Written Off the Show
Rest easy, Simpsons fans - Apu isn't going anywhere.
Following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox and its many fan-favorite properties, The Simpsons made its debut at Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim this weekend, where Simpsons creator Matt Groening assured a fan that, despite reports to the contrary, Apu would not be written out of the show. When asked whether Apu would appear on The Simpsons moving forward, Groening reportedly said, “Yes. We love Apu. We’re proud of Apu," according to Variety.
Back in October, Castlevania showrunner Adi Shankar told fans that he'd heard Apu was going to be written out of The Simpsons following criticism that the show was perpetuating racial stereotypes in the 2017 documentary The Problem with Apu (and was then accused making light of those criticisms after addressing them in a subsequent episode). Shankar tweeted, "I’ve verified from multiple sources now: They’re going to drop the Apu character altogether. They aren’t going to make a big deal out of it, or anything like that, but they’ll drop him altogether just to avoid the controversy.”

Alabama Centennial half dollar
The Alabama Centennial half dollar is a commemorative fifty-cent coin struck by the United States Bureau of the Mint in 1921 as a belated acknowledgement of the 100th anniversary of Alabama's admission to the Union in 1819. The half dollar was created by Laura Gardin Fraser, who became the first woman designer of a coin. Alabama Congressman Lilius Bratton Rainey introduced authorizing at the request of the state's centennial commission. The bill moved quickly through the legislative process and became law on May 10, 1920. The sponsors of the issue chose to depict William Bibb, the State of Alabama's first governor, and Thomas Kilby, its governor at the time of the centennial, thus making Governor Kilby the first living person to appear on a U.S. coin. They were issued in October 1921, and to boost sales, a symbol, 2X2, was included in the design for a minority of the coins; these are generally more expensive today.
