At CES 2019 HP has unveiled an upgrade to its OMEN 15 gaming laptop in the form of a 240Hz IPS panel, making it the world's first laptop with such a high refresh rate. Previous models have topped out at 144Hz, and super high refresh rates like this are usually favored for twitchy gameplay, so this laptop will likely be a favorite amongst eSports enthusiasts. The panel runs at a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and will be paired with Nvidia RTX 20-series GPUs, namely the RTX 2060 and RTX 2070.
The CPU will be an 8th generation Intel Core-i7 8750H "Coffee Lake" six-core/12 thread model, and the Wi-Fi is can also be upgraded to 80211.ax, a.k.a. Wi-Fi 6, for improved throughput to multiple clients. Storage includes a 128GB SSD for the OS (boo), and a 1TB 7,200rpm SATA hard drive. It will also ship with 16GB of RAM, and HP will allow access to both the RAM and storage for easy upgrades.
