It's hard to believe, but LEGO and Star Wars have been a pair for two decades now. Things were looking a little grim for the LEGO Group back in 1999. Not only was the world bracing for the tremendously overhyped Y2K, but sales of LEGO building sets had been in decline. All that changed, practically overnight, with the introduction of the first LEGO Star Wars sets on April 9, 1999.
To celebrate the monumental introduction of these incredible toys, LEGO stealth-released five all-new sets in honor of the 20th anniversary on April 1 in anticipation of the official anniversary date. With today being such an important day in LEGO history, why not join the festivities and bring home one of these awesome sets?
