Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa has said that the company has no plans to announce new hardware at E3 2019.
Talking at a Nintendo earnings event, Furukawa said that there was nothing to announce in regards to possible new hardware, according to tweets posted by Tokyo-based Reuters journalist, Sam Nussey. Furukawa did say that Nintendo is always developing hardware internally, however.
Furukawa’s statement comes after reports from Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal suggested that a new, cheaper version of the Nintendo Switch is planned to launch as early as June, as well as an upgraded version later in the year. While Nintendo’s official line does not directly refute these reports, it does suggest that even if these consoles are in the works, they won’t be revealed at E3.
